I like to see my staff develop, improve, move forwards, move up, get promoted, come up with great ideas that we can implement on the ward. The projects that we get to do, so The Get Up, Get Moving project, the projects about improving the environment on some of our clinical areas, developing our staff to work in the more acute areas, developing links with other service users. Lots and lots and lots.

Every day we’re thinking, “How can we do things better for our patients and our staff and how can we give patients the best care and experience we possibly can? And how can we make this a great place to work for our staff?” And I think sometimes that’s really tough, particularly in COVID, and teams have just been amazing, sort of stepping up and I’m proud to be part of that.

I would like to thank all of the ward teams and all of the specialists nursing teams and just all of the service side for their dedication and their patient-centered holistic care and for coming back every day for more.

I started off as a healthcare… So I built up to be what I am now, and that’s allowed me to be the advocate for the patient. It’s important for me to care and being a nurse was the best way to do it. So I could literally fight for what patients need.

I would like to thank my manager for believing in me, and I thank the people that I work with, particularly because I learn every day from what they bring into the team and to the care that they give to the patients that we have.

Come to King’s, it’s got fantastic opportunities. Whatever area you’re interested in, there is so much support. There is so much development and encouragement to develop as well. You’re not just expected to be a number, you’re actually valued for what you do, and you’re encouraged to make the best of yourself.

I’ve worked for King’s for 10 years, and I’ve worked in all three sites in those 10 years. And it’s just the work ethos, and everybody wants to pull together to give the best care to all their patients.
