“I’ll stay at King’s for as long as they want me to. We have the same values. It’s my passion to help others. It’s what I love to do, and so that’s why I’m here.”

As a group of people collectively, I mean, individually, we do our job, but collectively we are such a force and we do so much that is so important to so many people. Just meeting a patient in the corridor who can say to you, “You remember me? I’m cancer free now and that you’re a part of it.” And that King’s put the resources and the expertise in place to make sure that happens. It’s just fantastic.

“I love working for the NHS, especially King’s. It’s a great Trust to work for, and I’m so proud to be part of it. I’d like to thank my matron, Anna, for giving me the opportunity to work in the Surgical Admissions Lounge, which I really enjoy.”

I like my role because I’m still dealing with the general public. I’m also still dealing with the patients that go in and have a chat with them. I was HCA before, and I didn’t want to lose that contact with patients, so being a Ward Clerk, I’ve got the best of both worlds with the staff and still with the patients.

What makes me proud is the teamwork that we have got going on my ward, surgical ward 6, and throughout the surgical floor. We work as one big team and whatever problem there is we know who we can turn to whether it’s matrons or another ward clerk or a ward sister. As they say, there is no ‘I’ in team.

I’d want to thank everybody. Everybody’s worked so hard over the last, I don’t know, eight, nine months. It’s been trying, but it’s been a privilege working with everybody. They’ve all pulled together hard. I suppose I’d like to thank my ward manager, Amanda, on the ward, and I’d love to thank Debbie, who is my ward manager on the birth centre because they worked really hard for the last eight, nine months, as has everybody.

It makes me proud to help as many people as we can. I know there are plenty of people who, without Kings, maybe wouldn’t be here, and it’s having such a passionate team that’s always constantly driven to provide the best outcomes for the most amount of people.

It’s a great place to work. The people make it fantastic. There’s lots of opportunities for everyone, so many education opportunities, but not only that, there’s a great sense of family and working together. It’s got fantastic opportunities being in London and working in a huge trauma center with all the specialties that we offer. I would say for me, I’ve worked here for 13 years basically the whole of my nursing career, and I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to work.
