We’ve got some fantastic colleagues, not just the nurses on the ward. There’s a lovely HCA, as well, that works on wards, called Sarah, who is just goes above and beyond her role. And just every day she tries to make one patient’s experience of being in hospital just that little bit better by making their favorite drink or just something really small, but it just makes a big, big difference and makes people smile.

All of my colleagues were redeployed to critical care during COVID and they showed immense courage and determination and they were just amazing. I love my team and I’m really proud of them so they deserve all the thanks.

Working at King’s, people encourage you to do the best that you can be. It’s a very supportive environment. It’s a very supportive environment, and a warm environment as well. I’m a testimony. I’ve been here almost 20 years, and I don’t think I’m going anywhere soon. It’s just because of the camaraderie and the closeness that you have with your colleagues.

I’d like to thank actually all of my colleagues, in King’s A&E for working over the last couple of months, in particular during the COVID times because I, myself, wasn’t able to go on the shop floor, which has been quite difficult. But it’s been quite proud to watch them all work through in such difficult times. And yeah, I just want to say thank you to them all.

I work as one of the charge nurses in the immobile critical care outreach team. Part of my job is looking after deteriorating patients across the site and trying to increase safety. And the other part of my job is caring for people who have recently been discharged from intensive care.
For me, it’s all about getting people back to a version of themselves that they recognize. And it’s the little things that count. How many sugars do they like in their tea? And how up to date are they with Coronation Street?

I think King’s is a phenomenal organisation. It’s probably the most friendliest organisation that I have ever worked in. It’s very welcoming and it’s just a wonderful team.

I’d say that King’s is a really special place. So I’ve worked in lots of different hospitals in London and I worked at King’s previously, left and went and worked somewhere else and it always draws you back. It’s got the local community feel to it as well as the tertiary centre and trauma centre effect. So you kind of really do get absolutely everything working at King’s. And the support you get from management and the development opportunities that you get, I haven’t seen them anywhere else. So I would really recommend it.

I think with King’s, they’ve always given me the opportunity to progress through my career. Being a senior sister, obviously I’ve gone up in the ranks and my colleagues have supported me to do that. And I think being able to do that so quickly in my career has broadened my horizons and makes me give the best care to my patients.

The teamwork in King’s is just beyond my imagination. The way we’ve come together, as a Trust, as a team, there wasn’t any discrimination on what you can do, on what tasks you can contribute to doing, especially in the past couple of months, how we’ve just really get on, help each other, help the patient, regardless of the background, the ethnicity, or what our roles were, or what our roles are, here in the Trust.
