Every day here at King’s is a complete challenge. I’ve worked in different departments, in critical care and in the cardiac department, which brings a massive wealth of experience and opportunities to learn new things all the time.

Working here has helped me to see opportunities for better patient care, and I felt empowered to step up and help make a difference by getting involved in various groups and teams within the unit that are working on further trust on a wider scale.

It offers so many different specialties. In London, there’s very few trusts that offer the variety of specialties, the expertise, the world-class care, the community. And also we’ve got five sites. You want to work out in more of a district general, we can offer a major trauma experience. I don’t know. We offer a little bit of everything and a great community alongside it.

I really like the fact that a lot of the staff, you actually feel like they care and there’s some very nice MDT working that goes on and there is a lot of people who are kind of willing to help and it just feels like quite a nice supportive atmosphere.

I’m really proud to be part of Team King’s because I know King’s is well-known to have very good services, and at the same time, I know the staff here really work hard to provide quality services to our patients and all of us love our job and we’re very passionate with what we do.

King’s is a great place to work because it’s a teaching hospital. There’s lots of opportunities to attend seminars and teaching sessions. So yeah, I would highly recommend working at King’s.

I would have to say my manager, Sister Maureen, because she has been a great inspiration to all of us as junior sisters and as junior staff, whether it’d be the band fives, she’s always pushing us and motivating us to do more and go further. And she’s always supportive of us no matter what on the ward, whether it’s a challenging day or an exceptional day, but she’s always been a great inspiration to myself and my colleagues.

Sounds so cliche, but everyone pulling together, everyone working together, they really have your back. If you can’t manage to get to your patients, somebody will always come and help you. Or if you need emotional support or just clinical advice, there’s always someone there to help you.

I would say the heart of King’s is why you should come to work here. It has a great diverse work population and patient population. And more so than the diversity, it has great medical cases, challenging medical cases, and it also has the ability to treat academic cases with a lot of heart. And I like the combination that this provides.
